For my artist steal I did a cross between the fairy godmother from Cinderella and the male version of Elsa from the 2013 movie, Frozen. I liked the outcome and thought I did a good job with the shading, I would have liked to make him look more realistic. To draw the figure I printed out the male version of Elsa's body and put it against a window to trace it. I used color pencil as my medium.
Forr my final project I wanted to touch on the grip of social media. My piece represents how much of an impact not only social media, but technology as well has impacted the world. I used a balloon as my object that made the paper mache round. The paper mache took me three days to complete and I used glue and newspaper. On the last day I cut circles of newspaper instead of strips to give it a more round feeling. I had to replace the balloon twice because the heavy paper mache made the balloon shrink. I had to let it dry over the weekend, but come monday it was ready to paint on. I used acrylic paint. The different social media apps represent the different countries. So, Snapchat is Antartica, Vine is Australia and so forth.
I put the finishing touches on it a few days ago, and I made the "Countries" pop out more and gave them more realistic colors. I added brown and yellow and a lighter shade of green. The different colors helped me make the social apps more recognizable. I really liked my idea for the project, I think social media is a huge part of today's society and deffinetly impacts te majority of todays youth. I think social media is controlling and sometimes in bad ways. Social media is how we learn news, pass along information, connect with friends, and plan our lives. The world would literally be turned upside down if we didnt have socail media. Which is why I put "Antartica" on the top because it's really sussposed to be on the bottom. My question to you is: do you think it would be a bad thing if we didn't have social media?
