Artist Statement: For my piece, I chose a Monet. It is a beautiful painting of his back yard, in these entrancing darks and lights. The main color he used for his piece is blue and I just fell in love with the piece when I saw it. I picked it because it reminded me of calming relaxing days at home. With finals so near and the stress of finals I thought it would be an appropriate twist. I actually had a really hard time choosing between my three paintings I picked from the show. I picked the vase because I've always loved Greek culture and it really reminded me of the movie Hercules which is one of my favorite Disney movies. I wanted to do something different with this project as well and I have never done a sculpture or a pot. I really started liking the idea of pottery when we did that one day of the wheel during class. My other piece I chose was a painting of what looked like a majestic queen and king from England. I've always had a fascination with royalty as well so the painting really spiked my interest. In the end I chose the cool hues of the Monet. I had never done a still scene like this or an outdoor scene like this and I really liked how it turned out.
