These are my pieces that i really enjoyed creating~
Disney Locker How do you kill hunger?
This piece is what I would like to call the Joker Mouse. I was inspired by a picture on twitter of a Mickey Mouse and the joker "morphed" together to form one awesome acrylic piece. For my piece, however, I chose colored pencil because it was an easier/ less messy medium to deal with and it was readily available. I was surprised with my turn out and enjoyed the finish. I think it represents space the most. I did not add in the bottom half of his face on purpose to create a natural opening where the bottom half of his face/cheeks should have been.
Olivia Gude: response
I thought that Olivia Gude's opinion of the basic principles of art was in a way correct. While she perceives that repeating basic tasks of art such as lines, dots, and etc. is insignificant. I find it to be helpful in the long run, mastering the perfect circle or perfect line, the basics, helps when doing larger projects. Just like most talents and even sports you have to learn the fundamentals before diving head first into the hard stuff. I really liked how she stated in her blog that, "the elements and principles are presented as the essence of artmaking, as pure art education gospel." The rudimentary is essential for making good "fine" art.
Post Modern Principles Project
This project, although unfinished, has been a wonderful test of my focus. I took lyrics from Mac Miller and am creating a portrait, drawn in written words. The shading is done by letters/words/lines closer together and the light spaces are done in lighter pencil to create depth. Most people did this project with supplies that are not found in art stores. All of my supplies can be found in a store, however, I am using text to create something which classifies mine as unique and not found in an art store.

Dancing in the sun
For my "what I want to say but am afraid to say piece" I did a ballerina in mid pirouette. In the background is the print I made. It is a sun and moon intertwined. This represents life and death and night and day. For me I related it on a personal level to how fast my life is going and all the changes that are coming next year. I related it mostly to time passing. The ballerina and music notes represents my love for dance and how beautiful and graceful and free I think it is. It is a moving art. I have never had the classic shape of a ballerina so i never thought I could do it when I was younger. I tried but always felt out of place so I pursued soccer. If I could go back I would continue dance. The faceless girl represented myself and my secret desire. I made the print with acrylic paint. The girl and music notes I made with prisma colors and paper.
Teens inspired X2
I was greatly inspired by the Pompeii piece, with its warm colors, extreme detail, and action in the piece. This was a catastrophic natural disaster so I was inspired to create a disaster of my own. For my piece I plan to do a Tsunami washing over me as a young girl unsuspecting, playing in the sand. This represents the unsuspecting turns and twist life takes as well as the childhood innocence that I lost as a result of growing up. I am going to use acrylic paint and canvas.
Final Blog post
This semester I was inspired by Mr. Sands (whom is an excellent artist) and I was inspired by a musician as well. For my Mac Miller piece I created his face out of lyrics. During this process I really felt like I connect with him and his music (he is a specific type of artist.) I learned and researched interesting things about him and his life. In this process, I became a better, more involved artist. I began to really look into the artists who inspire me. I learn more about them and therefore, enhance my knowledge and ability of the art form. For my second inspired piece, it was actually my Teens Inspired piece. Last year, I was inspired by a beautiful Monet. I created and worked my butt off to accomplish one of the hardest paintings I had ever done. I didn't think I could do it, but Mr. Sands inspired me and pushed me and I created the Front Porch (a piece that is currently residing on the wall in my house.) This year I created a similar piece but with a much deeper meaning for me. It was inspired by a question that Mr. Sands asked me and helped me to develop. The question was, "What has inspired me to paint?" This question had an easy answer. My personal raw emotions. So in this case, I found a picture off of the internet that would fit perfectly with my idea. It was a picture of a women about to be washed away by a Tsunami and her looking at it like, "Well, what now?" This gave me an idea. I realized that the wave was a perfect metaphor for my responsibilities and worries about college and my family next year. As for the women, I painted myself instead as a little girl, playing in the sand. This represented my childhood being "washed away" as I am realizing I am growing up. Much faster than I wanted too.
